of retail employees will help prevent underage tobacco sales. We

Regularly train sales clerks to ask for a valid photo ID,
properly calculate the customer’s age and reject underage purchase
attempts;
|
|
|
Request valid identification from customers who appear to
be under age 40;
|
|
|
Use in-store and point-of-sale tools effectively to
improve compliance with state laws;
|
|
|
Develop responsible retailing practices and be
knowledgeable of and in compliance with state and local tobacco
minimum-age sales laws.
|
|
We believe that sales clerks who are aware
of their state’s minimum-age laws and store policies and who have
received intensive training are better equipped to reject attempted
purchases by minors.
